relive the pale bones
in pain and poverty. laughs, smiles
live beyond last breaths.

i see her scraping
the bottom of the barrel
and she falls over.
i’m a cannonball
spitting on a wishing well.
crash, i’m the last splash
* - from the breeders, “cannonball”
the sun is burning
the sky is a giant lens.
a hole through my soul
tequila sunrise
from my tongue, down to my throat
sunset, watch them burn
at the dead of night
thick clouds of smog trap the heat
like on hot mornings.
after valentine’s
hands, lips, hearts were together
when we closed our eyes
at night, as we walked
i waited for the kisses
of my valentine
time passes slowly
the leaves. the rain. they all fall
as i wait, and want.
if morning comes not
i will wait for night to pass
for the sun to rise.
